The cleaning world is very diverse. That’s what we love. So many industries and businesses rely on clean linen or are involved in it: hotels, restaurants, hospitals, industrial laundries, coin laundries… the list goes on.
At Vartex, we’re proud to be a partner of so many different institutions. In this article, we want to highlight two different partners: a hospital in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands and a newly built laundry in Saint Martin, The Dutch Caribbean.
Medisch Centrum Leeuwarden
The Medisch Centrum Leeuwarden (MCL) is the largest hospital in the Dutch province, Friesland. It is known for its state-of-the-art cardiology department and patients are referred to it from all over the country.
The Goal to Clean Greener
Early this year, Vartex was asked to replace MCL’s old Girbau washers with new ones. The important thing: MCL is dedicated to cleaning as green as possible. Therefore, the hospital opted for Smart Control as the operating system. So, their new washers were delivered with Smart Control instead of the standard Girbau controls.
You get to control the way you clean your linen. In Smart Control, you can very easily put together a tailor-made washing program. This way you choose the appropriate water use, dosage, duration of the dosage, etc. The program you designed is then saved; the next time you are just a single touch away from a successful batch.
This allows you to ensure ecologically responsible water use. Research shows that you can save water by 34% when a 68 kg machine is with 45 kg of linen. There’s one condition though: the water needs to match the load. Unfortunately, this is not the case in reality; in fact, coordinating water and load is not accessible with standard machine controls. However, that changes with Smart Control, which enables you to tailor your water usage to your load.
Making Data Visible
In addition, MCL wanted to track their energy use and view the performance of their new washers and dryers in real-time. That’s where Laundry Intelligence comes in. The hospital now has new washers with access to data produced by their machines.
Green Cleaning: A Sustainable way to clean
Water and energy management is getting more and more important by the day. Energy prices are going through the roof and water is getting scarcer every day. Especially in an industry that relies on both resources, we need to be more conscious. With Smart Control, MCL now controls their water usage, and it has access to resource usage in Laundry Intelligence.
US LAUNDRY in Saint Martin, Dutch Caribbean
In late 2017, the islands of St Martin, Saba and St Eustatius were hit hard by Hurricane Irma. In St Martin, like much property on the island, US Laundry’s site was also wiped out.
This forced the laundry to start all over. The determination and resilience of the team is truly admirable. The company continued to clean in a temporary site while the new plant was under construction.
Smart and Heavy Unica Washers
The heavy-duty Unica washer extractors are delivered with Vartex Smart Control for Washers, our universal control. Vartex is proud to have partnered up with Unica to coordinate our software for these heavy-duty machines.
Drying Greener
The Image dryers are fitted with Smart Control for Dryers. We’re swapping the standard controls with Smart Control for a more effective, efficient and environmentally friendly cleaning process.
Safer and Greener Filling of Storage Tanks & Dosing of Washers
US Laundry chose for Smart Filling to transfer detergents from IBC tanks to their storage tanks. Smart Filling features a safe 4 step QR scan process.
And the dosing of washer extractors happens with Smart Dosing. Vartex Smart Dosing installation is an all-in-one central dosing system for automatic dosing of liquid chemicals to washer extractors. The powerful PLC makes it possible to dose up to 12 chemicals and up to 15 washing machines. With Smart Dosing’s user-friendly OS, dosing detergents becomes easier and greener.
With Smart Dosing and Smart Filling, data is stored in the cloud so users can track their detergent use in the Laundry Intelligence Dashboard. You can determine the level at which new detergents are ordered. The system notifies your chemical supplier and a new order is placed automatically. This way, the chance of running out of detergents is decreased. That’s smart.
Insights in The Cleaning Process: Where All Data Come Together
All the above mentioned products are connected to the Laundry Intelligence dashboard. The performance and activity from the washers, dryers, dosing system are all displayed in this platform. In the case of Smart Dosing, the system knows when you’re running low on detergents, and it can notify the supplier for a new order.
So, there you have it: two entirely different institutions that share a desire for more efficient and smarter cleaning. We’re proud to be a partner of both.
